The North Shore Community Foundation was created in 1988 in responds to community needs. A group of citizens from a wide range of backgrounds banded together to create a true community foundation. The Foundation did not have a generous benefactor to provide seed capital to the Foundation. The Foundation is grass roots driven by a group of hands on Directors. From a balance sheet value of a few hundred dollars in 1988 to a current capital of over $600,000.  The foundation continues to grow and become a significant player in the community currently granting about of $45,000 annually.

We have currently set of goal for capital funds at $2,000,000 in the next few years. This will create a critical mass of capital to enable us to make grants in excess of $100,000 per year.

The Foundation operates as a volunteer organization. The Directors and a group of dedicated volunteers do all the work. Occasionally we hire contractors for specific projects.

The directors meet monthly and the committees meet as required.  The annual general meeting is held in September of each year. See Calendar Page for the specific dates of the next AGM. Minutes of the past AGM’s can be download as a PDF file found at:  www.nscomunityfoundation.com/downloads/downloads.html
